With just a few hours before we say “Cheers to 2020!” I find myself reflecting on the past year…the past decade. While I’m sure I am not alone in saying that it all went way too fast, I consider myself extremely blessed to be sharing this crazy journey with my wonderful family, my inspiration for all that I do.
And while I didn’t get to do some of the things I’ve had on my ever-growing to-do list, I can say that I have at least accomplished a “bucket list” item for 2019 – I started my blog. While life did get in the way of posting at times, I am happy that I just tried my best. After all, that’s all we can really do!
A New Recipe for From Scratch Baking
My intent when I started the From Scratch Baking blog was to post every day baking recipes that anyone can make, including those with food allergies. While I enjoy doing this, I realized that I missed making and using the techniques I learned in pastry school. The things I don’t do everyday. So as my mind whirls with new ideas, I think this is my focus for 2020 — to look to my instructional baking books and bake recipes from there — with a few twists to make things allergy-friendly for those with a peanut or tree nut allergy.
I do plan to keep Gracie’s Corner and post more recipes that are friendly for your fur babies.
I also hope to get back to decorating cookies and cakes a bit, possibly creating some tutorials down the road as well. One last goal is to create a webstore and offer baking kits…I have lots of ideas!
Holiday Baking
This past month I was busy with lots of holiday baking – where you? I created a few sugar and gingerbread “cookie kits” that contained undecorated shaped cookies, buttercream, sprinkles and piping bags.
I also made some cute cake pops to share with teachers and looked to Wilton for decorating inspiration for my chocolate sheet cake. I decorated the top in various sizes of rosettes with different colored buttercream. This simple technique made the cake look so pretty and festive!
Cheers to 2020!
So cheers to 2020! May this new year (and decade) bring you closer to what you’re seeking and may it be filled with sweetness!
