Menu Planning: Winter Wonderland Feast

The holiday season is a time of joy, celebration, and, of course, delicious food and desserts. By carving out just a little bit of time (and help!), you can create a unique and well-thought-out themed winter wonderland feast that everyone will enjoy.

Planning Your Winter Wonderland

Planning for a stress-free and delicious holiday dinner can be a daunting task, but with a little planning, you can create a memorable meal for any holiday event you’re hosting this season. Consider these simple tips to help you streamline the process and, most importantly, to help you enjoy the holiday season.

  • Dietary Restrictions. As with any planned dinner event, consider your guest list and any dietary restrictions or food allergies to help you plan your menu accordingly.
  • Menu Plan. Choose your main course and select side dishes that complement that part of your meal. If you choose to do appetizers, select one or two to keep it simple. And, don’t forget to plan for a festive dessert to complete your menu.
  • Recipe Selection. Look for recipes that you can make in advance or even delegate to another guest to bring. Also, be sure to select recipes you are comfortable with or that you know you’ll have enough time to prepare.
  • Shopping List. Make a detailed shopping list so you don’t end up running to the store for any last minute ingredients and, if possible, buy any non-perishable items you may need in advance.
  • Holiday Prep. Make a timeline of when to prepare and cook items, when to set the table, etc. Be sure to delegate tasks to those asking how they can help. Delegating even small tasks may help your holiday preparations go faster and be more efficient.
  • Tablescape. Select wintery patterns for your tablescape. Snowflake tablecloths and dishes with fresh greenery centerpieces help you set the festive mood you’re going for.
  • Be Flexible. Things may not always go as planned, so be flexible and be prepared to adjust things when needed.
