- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup oatmeal, quick oats
- 1 tbsp wheat germ (optional)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup pure pumpkin
- 1/2 cups water + 2 tbsp
In a large bowl, whisk together flours, oatmeal, wheat germ (if using) and salt. Set aside.
Using the mixing bowl to your electric mixer, combine the egg and pumpkin together.
With your mixer on the low speed, start adding the flour mixture and the water.
Starting with the flour and ending with the water, add water 1 tbsp at a time until the dough is sticky.
Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface. Roll into a 12 x 11 sheet, keeping dough about a 1/4" thick.
Cut into bone shapes using a cookie cutter (or any shape cutter you have).
Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Bake biscuits in a 300 degree oven for about 90 minutes. Biscuits should feel firm to the touch.
Store in a container once cooled or wrap in bags for a doggie treat!
