Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal, quick oats
  • 1 tbsp wheat germ (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup pure pumpkin
  • 1/2 cups water + 2 tbsp

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flours, oatmeal, wheat germ (if using) and salt. Set aside.
  • Using the mixing bowl to your electric mixer, combine the egg and pumpkin together.
  • With your mixer on the low speed, start adding the flour mixture and the water.
  • Starting with the flour and ending with the water, add water 1 tbsp at a time until the dough is sticky.
  • Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface. Roll into a 12 x 11 sheet, keeping dough about a 1/4" thick.
  • Cut into bone shapes using a cookie cutter (or any shape cutter you have).
  • Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Bake biscuits in a 300 degree oven for about 90 minutes. Biscuits should feel firm to the touch.
  • Store in a container once cooled or wrap in bags for a doggie treat!
