Woof! It’s me, Gracie. Since it’s been way too cold for walks – we’ve had some very cold weather lately – the kitchen is the place to be. Finally, what’s baking is something for me! And that something is homemade pumpkin doggie biscuits. Woof-woof!
Why Pumpkin
Not only is pumpkin yummy, it’s a healthy food for us pups. Pumpkin helps regulate our doggie digestion system because it is high in fiber – whatever that means. I just know I like it, and that’s all I care to know. And, it helps me when I’m having trouble going, if you know what I mean.
Pumpkin is also good for disease prevention, gives us pups more energy, which makes us happier! I’ll bark to that…woof! Just be sure that your family gives you pure pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling.
How Can I Get Some Pumpkin?
One way to get pumpkin is to have your family add some pure pumpkin to your dog food. Better yet, have them bake you some delicious, homemade pumpkin doggie biscuits! Here’s a recipe you can try. I’ve already tasted this myself and it’s worth begging for!

Once your dough is sticky, have your family flour a work surface to roll out the dough to about a ¼” thickness.
Cut out biscuits with a bone cookie cutter. Use different size cutters so you can share with your furry friends. Place cut biscuits on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake biscuits at 300 degrees for about 90 minutes, or until biscuits feel firm to the touch. Place in a container for your fur-baby once cooled.
And since sharing is caring – package up some biscuits for your fur-friends like I did.
