Woof! It’s me, Gracie. How are my dog friends doing? I’ve been struggling with getting snacks from my snack givers lately. I guess I’m looking a little “furrier” than normal. So I took matters into my own paws and found a sweet potato biscuit recipe that I left out for my fur mom to make. I mean, it has a vegetable in it, so I think she may go for it. And bonus for you, I’m sharing it with you to pass on to your fur moms too!
Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are a good source of fiber, which helps with doggie digestion. However, for my dog friends that may have some health concerns, such as diabetes, only a small amount of sweet potatoes is best.
I’m told moderation is “key” when it comes to food, so maybe one sweet potato biscuit per week for you? Otherwise, feel free to try my Homemade Pumpkin Doggie Biscuits instead. I enjoyed those very much…woof! As with all human foods, have your fur mom or fur dad check with your vet to make sure it’s a good snack choice for you.
How Dogs Should Eat Sweet Potatoes
I’m told that sweet potatoes should be cooked completely with skins removed. Just make sure your human doesn’t give you any raw potatoes to snack on while making the dog biscuits. Raw potatoes are not good for us pups, so be patient and wait for the dog biscuits. Trust me, it’s worth the wait! For this recipe, my fur mom peeled the sweet potato, cooked and then mashed it.
