No matter the reason, homemade treats are always a nice way to commemorate any special occasion. And what better way to say “I care” than with some dipped marshmallows? What’s great about these treats is that the possibilities of what to add to the dipped marshmallows are endless. From candies to sprinkles to graham crackers, the end result is always pretty and tastes delicious! Our favorite is the s’mores dipped marshmallow.

Ingredients You’ll Need (and Why)

Marshmallows: regular sized-marshmallows work best for dipping.

Chocolate: milk chocolate melting wafers is easiest to work with versus melting chocolate chips.

Graham Crackers Crumbs: use pre-crushed graham cracker crumbs or pulse full-size sheets in a food processor.

Helpful Baking Tools

Cookie Sheet: line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.

Mixing Bowl: use a small microwaveable bowl for melting chocolate and dipping marshmallows.

Spatula: a small silicone spatula is perfect for stirring the chocolate.

Straws: colorful paper straws or lollipop sticks help keep marshmallows in place for dipping and add to the final look.

Packaging: use treat bags and treat boxes if packaging for gifts.

How To Dip Marshmallows

Gather what you’ll need before you begin. The instructions below are for dipped s’mores marshmallows, but feel free to add in whatever “extras” you’d like.

  1. Melt chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds and stir. Continue this process until chocolate is smooth.
  2. Dip the tip of the paper straw or lollipop stick into the warmed chocolate and place in the center of the marshmallow. Allow to dry. Placing them in the refrigerator will speed the process up.
  3. Once all the sticks are hardened in the marshmallow, dip the entire marshmallow into the warmed chocolate. Try to remove any excess chocolate by gently tapping it on the side of the bowl.
  4. Immediately add the crushed graham crackers to make a dipped s’mores marshmallow. Or, add sprinkles or candies.
  5. Repeat the process until all marshmallows are covered. Allow to dry before wrapping.
  6. Wrap individually in a treat bag and add a ribbon to tie the bags closed to give out individually. Place some inside a treat box for a cute gift, too.
  7. While no refrigeration is required, store dipped marshmallows in an airtight container for freshness.
