Homemade Gifts: Dipped S’mores Marshmallows

No matter the reason, homemade treats are always a nice way to commemorate any special occasion, like Easter, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. And what better way to say “I care” than with some dipped marshmallows? What’s great about a treat like this is that the possibilities of what to add to the dipped marshmallows are endless. From candies to sprinkles to graham crackers, the end result is always pretty and tastes yummy! Our favorite is the s’mores dipped marshmallow.

Gather what you’ll need before you begin. This way you’re not scrambling for anything you need. In the past, I’ve made the marshmallows from scratch, however, to save on time, store-bought marshmallows work just fine! The instructions below are for dipped s’mores marshmallows, but feel free to add in whatever “extras” you’d like.

How To Dip Marshmallows

  1. Melt your chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds and stir. Continue this process until chocolate is smooth.
  2. Dip the tip of the paper straw or lollipop stick into the warmed chocolate and place in the center of the marshmallow. Allow to dry. Placing them in the refrigerator will speed the process up. It should only take a couple of minutes.
  3. Once all the sticks are hardened in the marshmallow, dip the entire marshmallow into the warmed chocolate. Try to remove any excess chocolate by gently tapping it on the side of the bowl.
  4. Immediately add the crushed graham crackers to make a dipped s’mores marshmallow. Or, add sprinkles or candies.
  5. Repeat the process until all marshmallows are covered. Allow to dry before wrapping.
  6. Wrap in little treat bags and add a ribbon to tie the bags closed to give out individually. Mini treat boxes hold a couple of marshmallows for a cute gift too!
  7. No refrigeration is required. If not wrapping for a gift, store in an airtight container.
