There is nothing quite like a birthday to remind us how much our dogs mean to our families. To celebrate your fur baby’s special day, skip the store-bought treats and bake something extra special: a homemade SunButter cake. This cake is dense, moist, and packed with dog-friendly ingredients like pumpkin and applesauce. It’s sure to be a hit.
Why Sunflower Seed Butter?
Sunflower seed butter, like SunButter, is an excellent, nut-free alternative to peanut butter. Whether you are managing allergies in your household or simply want to try something different, it provides a rich flavor that dogs absolutely love. If your home is nut-free, this recipe is a perfect way to include your pup in the festivities without any safety concerns.
Of course, if allergies aren’t a factor, you can easily substitute standard peanut butter for the sunflower seed butter in both the cake and the frosting.
Tips for a Paws-itive Celebration
- Decorate: Get creative and decorate the cake. You can top the frosting with some of your dog’s favorite small biscuits.
- Give a Gift: Add a new squeeze toy on top of the cake, making the day even more memorable.
- Health First: Every dog has different dietary needs. Before introducing new treats into your dog’s diet, be sure to consult with your veterinarian to ensure these ingredients are a good fit for their health.
